Prepping the Bride

As someone who “opted out”‘ of a big wedding and eloped I do not have the experience of planning a wedding but, in my world of aesthetics I have seen more than my share of stressed out brides. I know the value of fresh, clear, glowing skin on and in the days before the wedding day.

These events leading up to your wedding bring more photos and entertaining than any other time in your life;  The showers, Jack and Jill. and don’t forget the bachelorette party!  The planning of your wedding should include time for facials so your skin can be in it’s best condition in the weeks before the wedding.

At Skin Catering we suggest a series of facials before the big events start to give the skin a healthy glow, clear up any imperfections and help make make up application smooth and easy, not to mention an hour to yourself  just to be quiet.

We suggest starting six months before the big day with monthly facials. The week of the wedding we have a special facial for the bride that can be done any time during the week right up to the day of the wedding.

We also recommend putting Gift Certificates for facials and massage on your registry!

Administrative Professionals Get Rewarded In An Amazing Way

The leaders in one of the tower offices of Monarch Place downtown Springfield rewarded their hard-working staff for Administrative Professionals Day a little bit early this year.  They booked the Elite Spa Squad over here at SkinCatering to come give their team an afternoon of mini manicures and mini massages! What a great idea!

“The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you. In between, the leader is a servant.”

Benefits of Massage for the Bride-To-Be

Engaged!

How exciting to plan a celebration of the joining of two soul mates, right? I remember planning my own wedding in 1999 amid all the hoopla of the upcoming new millennium; talk about hectic! The excitement from the beginning can give way to stress as the date looms closer. All those little details can have you seriously considering elopement to Vegas! The saving grace during my own wedding planning was a gift from my mom – she sent me for a massage that had such a calming effect on me, I nearly floated down the aisle the day of my wedding.

While there’s a long list of benefits from receiving a professional massage, here’s a few that the busy bride-to-be may want to consider:

– Massage increases happiness. During wedding planning, feelings of sadness may arise if a loved one is not going to be at the celebration. Massage can help your natural feel-good hormones, serotonin & dopamine, increase which helps change a negative attitude into a positive one before you walk your gorgeous self down the aisle.

– Massage increases wellness. Elevated cortisol levels inhibit immune system function, leading to illness and [gasp] dreaded weight gain. Two things a busy bride just shouldn’t have to worry about before her big day are having a runny nose and not being able to zip the dress!

– Massage increases memory. The hippocampus is the region of the brain related to memory forming, organizing & storing them, and retrieving those memories when needed. Massage helps create faster and more elaborate development of this region to give you superior memory performance. Brides-to-be may find this helpful to recall details during planning, while grooms may wish for the opposite – especially after his bachelor party!

– Massage increases rest. Delta brainwave activity is linked to deep sleep. When your mind won’t turn off long enough to get a good night’s rest it effects your decision making & function. And take it from me, an experienced bridesmaid with a closet full of dresses: No bride should be deciding our dresses without enough sleep! (“And you’ll be able to wear this dress again, isn‘t that great?!”)

At SkinCatering we’ve made it even easier for brides to fit a massage into their busy schedule because we specialize in busy people!  Our hours are 8am to 8pm Monday thru Friday, 9am to 1pm on Saturday, and by appointment Saturday afternoon/evening & Sunday morning.  We even have a mobile massage option!

Have a whole bridal party that needs to decompress? We offer massage parties that give each guest mini-massage sessions at mini-prices, and the bride gets hers free with at least 5 participating guests.

Social Spa trends

“It used to be that people went to spas to get away from it all and from each other. In recent years however spas have evolved to also cater to more social clients and serve as more common venues for bachelorette parties, book clubs and other get -togethers.”

Looks like Skin Catering is spot on with its trends.
